UC Desert Research center burglarized, two arrested

HOLTVILLE — Two men were taken into custody this morning in connection with a burglary at the University of California Desert Research and Extension Center west of here.

The burglary occurred before 5 a.m. this morning.

Two men reportedly broke into an office building in the center at 1004 E. Holton Road, ransacked the office and then reportedly stole a vehicle from the parking lot.

According to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, the stolen vehicle crashed into a pole a short distance from the center.

Two men were taken into custody and were being questioned this morning. They had not been booked into the county jail as of press time and their identities were unavailable.

The two were expected to be booked into the jail on suspicion of burglary and auto theft.
