HOLTVILLE — Anyone interested in becoming involved in a service club that benefits children is invited to an organizational meeting at 6 a.m. Wednesday at Mi Casita Restaurant here.

The purpose of the meeting, according to Bill Condit, president of the El Centro Sunrise Optimist Club, is to answer questions and see if there is any interest in forming an Optimist Club in Holtville. Condit invites anyone who is interested to call him at 352-7901.

"Ninety-five percent of the projects our clubs do directly involve our members with kids," he said, "and all the money raised by our clubs stays in the community."

Condit went on to say Optimist International is the fourth- largest service organization in the world and the fastest-growing one. The service club is "actively recruiting women" to be members of the organization. The club motto is "Friend of Youth."
