Now that summer is winding down, it seems like a good time to say thank you to all of our varied sponsors for the support the Valley libraries received for our summer reading program.
Summer reading programs were held at 10 area public libraries over the past few months, with over 1,000 children benefiting. Many exciting programs were offered all over the Valley and lots of great books were shared.
On behalf of the Desert Valley Library Media Association, special thanks go to the Imperial Valley Press for its generous donation and to Judge Donal Donnelly for his support. Their contributions were shared among the 10 summer reading programs.
Brawley Public Library also received support from the PEO Sisterhood and the Friends of the Brawley Public Library. Camarena Memorial Library in Calexico received support from its Friends, from the Calexico Educational Foundation, Calexico Rotary, Valley Independent Bank, McDonald's, Hometown Buffet and the Calexico swimming pool. El Centro Public Library received support from McDonald's, Vons, Office Supply and generously shared it support from the El Centro Sizzler restaurant with the Imperial County Free Library branches. Additional support for ICFL branches came from the Calipatria, Holtville and county Library Friends as well as Knightly Games in El Centro.
