Voice: Nation not under God hit by carnage

September 22, 2001

As I watched with horror the carnage in New York, the passage in Revelation Chapter 18 came to my mind.

Over the last week we have heard how mighty and powerful America is. To a certain extent I agree. But this nation is not a nation under God.

Over the last 50 years we have fallen away from God. As the Rev. Billy Graham said recently, America must repent of our national sins. We must turn to God in repentance by outlawing abortion on demand and stop promoting homosexuality as a acceptable lifestyle in the media. Display the Ten Commandments in all our public schools. Have mandatory prayer and teach the Bible as a required course in our public schools.

We must as Christians reach out to those who are hurting emotionally and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

It is time for parents to take their children to church to hear the word of God and to take the time and read the Bible to their children when they are young.

As a veteran, my prayers are with the people in our armed forces. I pray God will keep them safe and that they will put their salvation in Jesus Christ.

I pray we as a people will once again become a God-fearing and God-loving people so our greatness will come forth so we can win this war.

The history of Israel shows us that when a nation humbles itself before God and repents of its sin, God heals the wounds of the nation and brings it victory over its enemies. Also when a nation does not repent of its sins, great tribulation and destruction comes.

Revelations 18:9: "When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her".
