BERTHA LEE-ENGLISH

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hemet for Bertha Lee-English, 66, of Cathey's Valley, a former El Centro resident who died Saturday in her home. Pastor Bob Campbell will officiate.

Mrs. English was born on July 26, 1935, in England, Ark. She married Lloyd English in Merced on June 1958.

Mrs. English worked as an X-ray technician for Dr. Hayworth in El Centro and attended Central Baptist Church of El Centro. She had resided in Cathey's Valley since 1979.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd English Sr. of Cathey's Valley; son, Mike English of Cathey's Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Jr. and Carrie English of El Centro; and grandchildren, Amanda, Jake and Carissa English, all of El Centro.

JESUS "CHUY" PACHECO-RUELAS

 Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in El Redentor Assembly of God in Brawley for Jesus "Chuy" Pacheco-Ruelas, 86, of Brawley, who died Tuesday in Chase Care Center in El Cajon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in El Redentor Assembly.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Pacheco-Ruelas was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. She came to the United States at age 5 and later became a U.S. citizen.

She married Eufemio Ruelas in Arizona in 1938.

Mrs. Pacheco-Ruelas was an active member of El Redentor Assembly until she was disabled. She enjoyed reading the Bible, sewing, painting ceramics, embroidery and crocheting. She was a homemaker and a spiritual leader to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eufemio Ruelas, in October 1983, and son Jerry Cortez in March.

Survivors include her daughters, Lupe Ortiz, Lola Ortega, Mary Garcia, Rosa Padilla and Connie Chicon, all of Brawley, and Elena Nuñez of San Diego; sons, Eufemio "Pemo" Ruelas Jr. of Davis and Meño and Jesse "Tituy" Ruelas, both of Brawley; sister, Maria "Lico" Bustamante of Brawley; brother, Vicente "Chente" Pacheco Jr. of Mexicali; 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
