Sheriff's continue search for Niland robbery suspect

October 01, 2001

NILAND — The county Sheriff's Office was searching for a suspect today involved in robbing a mini-market at gunpoint in this community Saturday.

Sheriff's Sgt. Pompeyo Tabarez reported that at 9 p.m. a male suspect entered the Soco market in Niland, pulled out a gun and demanded money and the keys to the clerk's vehicle.

The suspect, wearing a ski mask, drove away in the clerk's vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money.

Tabarez said the clerk was not injured.

The clerk's vehicle was later recovered, and sheriff's investigators this morning were following leads in the case.

Tabarez asked that anyone with information about the robbery call investigators at 344-2615.
