Fund-raising workshop Wednesday at OPOP

Nonprofit Management Solutions announces a fund-raising workshop designed for local nonprofit organizations in the Imperial Valley.

"Schmoozing 101: Building Peer-to-Peer Relationships with Grantmakers," is scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Imperial County Arts Council's Old Post Office Pavilion at the corner of Fifth Street and Olive Avenue in El Centro.

The registration fee is $55 and $40 for members of Nonprofit Management Solutions. The fee covers tuition, lunch and handouts.

The workshop will cover grant research and contact strategies for getting grants. A panel of grant-makers will be on hand to describe their funding programs, answer questions and meet formally with participants. Panelists will include:

· Dean Thorpe, Wells Fargo Foundation

· Patricia Lozada-Santone, The California Endowment

· Joni Craig, San Diego Foundation for Change

Trainer Andy Robinson, a consultant from Tucson, has 20 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations and has raised and managed $4 million in grants and donations. The author of "Grassroots Grants" and the forthcoming "Selling Social Change," Robinson has led workshops in 36 states and Canada.

Magnolia 4-H meeting tonight

Magnolia 4-H Club will have its monthly meeting at 7 tonight in the Finley Elementary School cafeteria, 627 E. 6th St. in Holtville.

Those interested are invited to come and sign-up for committees, participate in games and learn what's coming up on the 4-H calendar.
