PALO VERDE — Two men who had been camping in the Mammoth Wash area near Niland and reported missing Sunday were found Monday when they walked into a campsite here.

The men, ages 43 and 61, reportedly got lost and walked about 50 miles from Mammoth Wash to Walter's Camp in Palo Verde.

Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials said the two men basically walked in the opposite direction of their camp and continued walking until they reached the Palo Verde area.

The two were reported missing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The De Anza Search and Rescue Unit, which is the sheriff's volunteer search and rescue squad, searched for the men, as did the Sheriff's Office Aero Squadron.
