October 05, 2001|By MARIO RENTERÍA, Staff Writer

El Centro police investigators are still investigating a robbery at Wells Fargo Financial in El Centro on Wednesday.

Police investigators said they are re-interviewing witnesses and are still investigating the area near the incident.

About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday a bandit wearing a Halloween mask entered the financial institute at 1950 S. 4th St., pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.

He told staff and customers not to contact police for 10 minutes, then fled.

Investigators think the man was familiar with the business. According to witness reports, the suspect, thought to be a Hispanic male with graying hair, spoke the name of the employee from whom he was demanding money.

There were witness reports that a dark green Toyota was driven from the scene after the robbery.

Police have asked anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Luis Hernandez at 337-4525
