The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors on Tuesday will discuss creating a plan to implement the recently completed efficiency study.
Implementation of all the recommendations in the $875,118 study could lead to yearly savings of $31.6 million, with a one-time investment of about $10 million, according to the study. Overall savings are estimated at $217 million.
The board meets in open session at 5 p.m. at 1285 Broadway in El Centro.
In other business, the board:
· will discuss approving a $74,000 contract to inspect the stability of portions of the All-American Canal, which sustained a bank failure and instability recently at Drop 5, according to a staff report.
· will consider approval of $350,000 for modifications to the 22-megawatt Brawley gas turbine plant.
· will discuss approval of a power sales contract with Brawley Beef, in which $1.4 million in infrastructure work will be repaid to the district with interest during a 10-year period.
