OCEANSIDE — The Brawley Union High boys and girls cross country teams both finished in the top five at the El Camino Invitational here Saturday.
The Brawley boys took fourth place, led by medalists Luis Maldonado in seventh place in 18 minutes, 25 seconds and Tommy Guzman in 10th in 18:36.
Jennifer Cardenas led the Wildcat girls to fifth-place, finishing in 10th in 16:42.
Erica Camacho led Central Union High's girls team taking 10th place in the varsity division in 15:52.
Central's Hipolito Valdez took 23rd in 19:37 in the boys varsity division.
In the boys novice division, Alex Ibarra took first place for the Spartans in 19:38 followed by teammate Manuel Capistrano in second (19:39). Daniel Osuna finished ninth (20:43) followed by Jose Preciado in 29th (23:38) and Anthony Rosas in 30th in 23:39.
Viviana Ortiz finished 35th in 19:52 in the girls novice division for Central.
Brawley will host Holtville at 4 p.m. Thursday. Central will take on Palo Verde in Blythe at 4 p.m. Thursday.
