October 15, 2001

A tailgate party with all the trappings of pre-game parking lot festivities at a football stadium is the theme for an El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau mixer tonight.

El Centro Regional Medical Center will be the host.

The mixer will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the El Centro Regional Medical Plaza, 1271 Ross Ave.

Food, prepared by the hospital's dietary department, will be served form the tailgates of pickups surrounding a tent to be erected on the parking lot.

Linda Rubin, the hospital's administrative dietitian, said the menu will include bratwurst, both original and Cajun and fresh from on-site grills, assorted cheeses, other snacks, frozen fruit bars for dessert and drinks served from cold chests.

Administrators and department managers will be wearing Central Union and Southwest high school football jerseys as hosts for the event. Also programmed is a football tossing contest for which prizes will be awarded.

Tours of the construction site for the new hospital wing under construction will be conducted as will tours of the newly relocated physical therapy department and the new information systems facilities. A television set will be awarded to someone who has a card stamped that he or she has taken all of the tours.

Judy Hamilton, a registered nurse and director of the community education department, said other prizes and giveaways also will be available.

All members of the El Centro Chamber of Commerce and their guests are invited.
