BRAWLEY — County probation officers and the local Street Interdiction Team arrested four people Wednesday in a sweep aimed at reducing drug use in this city.
The operation, according to a press release, was conducted in response to complaints by residents in some Brawley areas about increases in drug-related activities.
A press release from the county Probation Department stated, "The main purpose of the sweep was not to make arrests but to let persons on probation know they will be kept accountable for their actions."
Authorities said the sweep was successful, adding the operation was one of several planned for the county.
Those arrested, all Brawley residents, were Ralph Garcia, 54, arrested on suspicion of a probation violation; Philip Gonzales, 57, arrested on two warrants; John Casados, 49, arrested on a warrant; and Albert Garcia, 31, arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana.
