Camacho, Wildcats fare well at Mount SAC

WALNUT — Central Union High School's Erica Camacho won the freshman division at the Mount San Antonio College Invitational here Saturday.

Camacho finished in 20 minutes, 11 seconds to lead the pack of 110 runners.

While Camacho was winning the freshman division, Brawley Union's boys were taking third and the Wildcat girls fourth at the meet.

Arturo Contreras led the Brawley boys with a sixth place (16:56) finish. Alfredo Campos took 15th (17:21) for Brawley.

Meg Allen took 13th (21:29) for the Wildcat girls while Jennifer Cardenas was 15th (17:21).

The Central boys freshman team took ninth place among 13 teams, led by Alex Ibarra in 23rd in 19:17, Irving Palacios in 52nd (20:32) and Eduardo Santiago in 61st in 21:00. Daniel Osuna took 63rd in 21:01 with Jose Preciado finishing 85th in 22:54.

Hipolito Valdez finished 12th in the sophomore division in 18:26 and Benny Scott took 85th in the varsity division in 19:58.


Central will next run at Calexico at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Wildcats will host Palo Verde on the same date and time.
