October 22, 2001|By MARIO RENTERÍA, Staff Writer

BRAWLEY — An 18-year-old man police allege shot and killed his father here Saturday morning has been booked into jail for suspicion of murder with bail set at $1 million.

Frank Hale allegedly shot 59-year-old Charles Hale three times at the family's home on 300 block of West Driftwood Place. The incident occurred around 10 a.m.

A Police Department spokesman stated Saturday that Charles Hale and his wife, Sandra, were "pretending to fight" when Sandra accidentally kicked her husband, setting off an argument in which Charles Hale became angry.

As the two fought, police allege their son, Frank Hale, came out of his bedroom and joined the fracas, returning to his bedroom to retrieve a gun. It is alleged by police he then shot his father three times, twice in the upper right chest and shoulder area and once in the back of the neck.
