Thank You: JCPenney gives thanks for candlelight vigil

We at JCPenney would like to thank the following for participating in the firefighters' candlelight vigil on Oct. 11:

El Centro Fire Chief Charles E. Beard and his firefighters, KXO Radio., KVYE-TV7 Univision, Ena Jane Fugate, Sue Lee, the Rev. John Nettles of Second Baptist Church,Martin Mercado of 3rd Element Sound Systems, Silvia Preciado of Imperial Valley chapter of the American Red Cross, the Imperial Valley Press, the Korean Veterans Association 102, all girls California color guard under the direction of Mike Singh, Valley Plaza Shopping Center, JCPenney associate volunteers coordinated by Maria Jurado and Rosa Rabb, and El Centro citizens who attended.

The donations raised from candles, ribbons and refreshments totaled $562 for the New York firefighters' 9-11 disaster relief fund. A matching $562 provided by the JCPenney Co. was donated to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund and the Sept. 11 fund, care of United Way of New York City. The total raised $1,124.
