Dr. Marc D. Rose opens a pain management office in E.C.

Dr. Marc D. Rose recently opened his pain management office at 1550 Pepper Drive in El Centro.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Rose attended the University of California, San Diego, where he earned his degree in biochemistry and cell biology.

He earned his medical degree in 1991 from State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He was class president and received an award from the school's alumni association to study and practice medicine in the Australian Outback with the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

Rose took his postgraduate anesthesia training in Boston at The Brigham & Women's Hospital. His critical-care training was at Massachusetts General Hospital and his pediatric anesthesia training was at Children's Hospital in Boston.


Rose served as a clinical fellow in anesthesia at Harvard Medical School in Boston from 1992-95. He completed a pain management fellowship at University of Virginia under the tutelage of Dr. John Rowlingson, then president of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.

Rose practiced pain medicine in Houston with Dr. Kenneth Aló, an international expert in spinal cord stimulation, while serving as a clinical assistant professor at University of Texas, Galveston.

When he returned to California, Rose worked in the San Francisco Bay area with Dr. Elliott Krames, the leading expert in intrathecal drug delivery, a complicated subspecialty of pain management.

Rose deals with a variety of painful conditions such as back and neck pain, cancer pain, spinal injuries and neuropathic pain.

Treatment consists of invasive and non-invasive care.

Invasive care may consist of nerve blocks, epidural injections, radio frequency neuroablation, epiduroscopy, intradiscal electrothermy and spinal cord stimulation or intrathecal drug administration systems.

Non-invasive care may consist of medication management and collaboration with local practitioners of various subspecialties of medicine, psychology, chiropractic and physical therapy.
