Brawley High School recently named seniors Steven Castaneda and Brooke Pace as teen-agers of the month for September.
Steven is associated student body vice president and a member of the leadership team, Juvenile Justice Commission, Western Association of Schools and Colleges team and was selected to attend Boys State. He enjoys anything political and plans to either attend San Diego State University or California State University, San Marcos to major in international relations.
His parents are Mario and Angela Castaneda of Brawley.
Brooke is ASB president, vice president for California Scholarship Federation and on the leadership team. She is also on the varsity volleyball, basketball and swimming teams. She enjoys sports, reading and leadership. She plans to study medicine at Brigham Young University next year.
Her parents are Patrick and Kathryn Pace of Brawley.
The awards are sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Brawley Lodge 1420.
Selections are judged on character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic achievements.
