50 years ago — Imperial Valley Linoleum whipped the Lions Club by winning all of the three games played in a bowling tournament and the Russo Brothers took two out of three games from AAA Water Co. last night.

40 years ago — Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association star Billy Hogue of Holtville will receive some professional help on his golfing from Elmer Sears, chairman of the second annual PRCA Cowboy Golf Tournament. Also participating will be top PRCA rider Dan Poore.

30 years ago — Lana Dee Brachenbury, Miss Rodeo America 1971, will be the grand marshal of this year's Brawley Cattle Call Parade on Nov. 6. She is scheduled for several appearances during Cattle Call week.

20 years ago — It was the end of a long dry spell for the Central Spartans. But when it ended Friday night, it ended with a bang. The Spartans, led by running back Alex Johnson's three touchdowns and 134 game-leading rushing yards, ran over the Bulldogs 41-13 on Friday in Calexico to win their first game in seven outings.
