Former Holtville librarian honored

October 24, 2001

HOLTVILLE — The devotion of former librarian Sally Henthorne will be remembered tonight at the Meyer Memorial Library during a Chamber of Commerce mixer.

Henthorne's 17 years of faithful service to the city will be recognized with the dedication of a plaque naming the new edition of the library as "Sally's Room." The Soroptimist Club of Holtville is donating the plaque. Henthorne was a longtime member of the Soroptimist Club.

Until her sudden death on Sept. 8, Henthorne was a tireless worker on behalf of the residents of Holtville.

An exhibit of some of her extensive clown collection is on display at the library.

The library, at 101 E. 6th St., will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. for the mixer. The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. County Librarian Connie Barrington will make a brief presentation. The public is invited.
