Emil Rebik

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Emil Rebik, 91, of Brawley, who died Friday in Pioneers Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley.

The Rev. David Conrad of First United Methodist Church of Brawley will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Rebik was born March 21, 1910, in Chelsea, Iowa.

He married Jean Elizabeth Cox on Oct. 1, 1937, in Yuma.

Mr. Rebik moved to California with his family in 1920. He attended Mulberry School in Brawley until leaving to follow the crops north.

He returned to the Imperial Valley in the early 1930s and began farming.

He was active in the Imperial County Farm Bureau and the Mulberry School District and donated his talents for auctioneering at the California Mid-Winter Fair for many years. He was also a barbecue chef for charitable organizations.


He was preceded in death by his infant son, Franklin David, and his three sisters, Millie, Henrietta and Emma.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Rebik of Brawley; son, Joe Rebik of Brawley; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Ellen Rebik of Brawley; son, George Rebik of Idabel, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Laurie Rebik of Conroe, Texas; daughter, Julia Rebik of Brawley; brother, Charley Rebik of Turlock; brothers, Pete and Leonard Rebik of Brawley; sister, Alice Spaugh of Imperial; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
