Six injured in traffic collision

HEBER — Two Holtville children and four adults were injured in a traffic accident Saturday morning at the intersection of Heber and Barbara Worth roads east of here.

A 6-year-old boy was transferred from El Centro Regional Medical Center to San Diego's Children's Hospital for treatment of major injuries.

His name was not released by the California Highway Patrol.

The others involved in the accident suffered minor or moderate injuries and were treated at El Centro Regional Medical Center.

According to the Highway Patrol, Jesus Banuelos, 29, of Holtville, was driving south on Barbara Worth Road, approaching a stop sign at Heber Road, about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Arturo Sotelo of Calexico was driving east on Heber Road, approaching Barbara Worth.

According to the Highway Patrol, Banuelos didn't stop at the stop sign and the front end of his vehicle broadsided the left side of Sotelo's vehicle.


In the collision, both children and Adriana Olivia Cardenas, 27, of Holtville were ejected from Banuelos' vehicle

The vehicle driven by Sotelo overturned and landed in a field.

Banuelos, a 9-year-old boy, Cardenas and Linda Pantoja, all of Holtville, were treated for minor injuries.

Sotelo suffered moderate injuries.
