Battin inaugurates e-mail news service for district

October 27, 2001

SACRAMENTO — State Sen. Jim Battin, R-La Quinta, announced the release of his new e-mail news service that is expected to help those interested in the district he represents, which includes Imperial County.

The Battin NewsNet is a new daily informational service that has been created to keep community leaders and concerned citizens abreast of news stories affecting the state and the 37th senate district that Battin represents.

Specifically, the new service provides brief summaries of top daily news headlines. Recipients will be able to link to any online news service article that is of interest to them.

The Battin NewsNet also has some other features, including:

· a direct link to Battin's Web page, his biography, a district description and district links and resources;

· contact information that allows readers to e-mail Battin directly or contact one of his three offices for questions or assistance with any state-related matter;

· brief summaries of Battin's current legislation as well as direct links to each measure where up-to-date information, such as complete bill text, analysis, and status of the legislation is available;

· information on how to sign up to receive Battin NewsNet directly.

"Many critical and important issues are happening locally and throughout the state that could dramatically impact families, businesses and communities," Battin stated. "Unfortunately, many of us are too busy with our daily lives to be able to research and keep up to speed on vital issues — such as energy, education, public safety, housing and many others."

"I am positive that this service will help people to obtain valuable and needed information that is relevant to them," he added.
