The Southwest High School football team soared to a 16-0 win over CETYS of Mexicali here Friday.
"We played very poorly," said Eagle coach Jerry Storts. "Offensively, we continued to shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties. However, we blocked well."
After a scoreless first quarter, things began to change. Clouds began to set in over Southwest's field as if to foreshadow the next series of events. The Eagles were smoking on the field as Southwest surged past the Zorros.
Southwest's Rick Lopez got the scoring started with a touchdown. Pee Wee Salazar booted an extra point and kicked a field goal to put the Eagles up 10-0.
