Fenn joins IVC as dean of instruction for extended campus

October 30, 2001

Renee A. Fenn has joined Imperial Valley College as its new dean of instruction for the extended campus.

"We are very pleased to have Ms. Fenn on board," said IVC President Gilbert Dominguez. "Her varied background in both instruction and administration will greatly assist our efforts in building our extended campus programs."

Dominguez added, "She has hit the ground running and has already become very involved in our outreach efforts into the community."

Fenn came to IVC from Arizona, where she taught and served as a program coordinator in elementary, high school, community college and university settings.

Her background includes serving as program coordinator for the University of Arizona's Guadalajara summer school program for four years and director of Arizona Western College's off-campus centers in San Luis and Somerton for three years.

She had taught both Spanish and French at Orange Grove Middle School in Tucson since 1997. Fenn also spent several years working with educators in bilingual education for both the University of Phoenix, the University of Arizona and Pima Community College.

At the University of Phoenix's Center for Continuing Professional Education, Fenn taught courses in curriculum development and cultural issues for bilingual and English-as-a-second-language educators. She also served for about three years as coordinator for bilingual/ESL grants at the University of Arizona.

Fenn has two masters' degrees: a master of international management with an emphasis in marketing from the American Graduate School of International Management and a master of arts with a major in English as a second language from the University of Arizona.

Fenn is responsible for overseeing and managing IVC's three extended campus sites in El Centro, Calexico and Brawley.
