Fed Thomas

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Fed Thomas, 75, of El Centro, who died Oct. 24 in his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sweet Home Baptist Church in El Centro. The Rev. R.T. Arnold will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mr. Thomas was born on July 20, 1926, in Glendora, Miss. He worked for various companies, including The El Centro Compress and Lu-Ette Farms.

Mr. Thomas owned the New Deal Café in El Centro for more than 32 years. He married Frances Phillips on Aug. 19, 1967.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Mary Alice, Betty and Paulette Thomas; son, Fed Thomas Jr.; sisters, Alice and Ada Thomas and Adline Hill.; and brothers, James and Emmanuel Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Thomas of El Centro; daughters, Mary Williams of Ohio, Alice Staton of El Cajon and Daisy Nelson of El Centro; sons, James Mitchell of Stockton and Jon Phillips of San Diego; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four great-great-grandchildren.
