Eagles, Scots out of playoffs

ESCONDIDO — The Southwest High School girls tennis team was knocked from the CIF San Diego Section playoffs by San Pasqual 16-2 here Wednesday.

The Eagles suffered the loss in the second round of the Division II playoffs and finish the season with a 19-3 mark.

Bianca Bonilla and the team of Breezy Boniface/Christina Estrada scored the only points for Southwest.

"We were pretty much outmatched," said Eagle coach Genaro Piniero. "Their girls have quite a bit of experience, but we tried hard. I was happy with the way the season went."

Elsewhere in girls tennis playoff action, Vincent Memorial fell to Francis Parker 13-5 in the first round of the Division III playoffs on Tuesday. The Scots finish the year 7-4.

Both teams still have some tennis left as they will participate in the Imperial Valley League individual finals to begin today at 3:30 p.m. at Central Union High School in El Centro.
