Voice: Indulge in Cattle Call

November 07, 2001

The guys and gals of the Imperial Valley are lucky to have the Cattle Call Rodeo "cowboy up" right here in the Imperial Valley.

If you're someone who's complained there's "nothing to do in the Imperial Valley," then you've probably never experienced Brawley Cattle Call week; believe me there's something for everybody.

If you've never attended the rodeo, I suggest you "lasso" up some friends and family and head to Brawley for one of the best rodeos in the nation, and a week packed with heel-kicking" events. Expect to see a first-class show, performed in a first-class facility that's sanctioned by the crème of the crop, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and produced by the Flying U Rodeo Co.

As a "wannabe" cowgirl I've been fortunate enough to attend many rodeos and undoubtedly the Cattle Call Rodeo is one of the best in the West. Most certainly and without a doubt, the people involved with rodeo, especially the locals, are the most down-to-earth and good-hearted people you'll ever meet.

Now more than ever is a time to appreciate our community and the fun things we have to offer. I encourage everyone in the Imperial Valley to take

advantage of this wonderful opportunity to participate in this community event.

After all, ladies and gentlemen, what could be more American than a sport that celebrates the traditions of cowboys and cowgirls who made the Imperial Valley and United States what it is today? Lastly and most importantly, I would like give a special "hats off" to the rodeo committee for their hard work and dedication to bring us the Cattle Call Rodeo for the 45th year in a row, despite the "bucks" and "kicks" they had to contend with the past year.

Clearly, the committee stuck to their morals like a good bareback cowboy sticks to a bronc and remained in the saddle!

Let's rodeo!
