A pre-holidays craft and bake sale has been scheduled for Friday by El Centro Regional Medical Center auxiliary to help underwrite the purchase of needed equipment for the hospital.
Susan Barros, auxiliary president, said the sale will be form 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the administrative conference room of the hospital. She said everything to be offered is either homemade or handmade by members of the auxiliary.
Available will be jams, jellies, breads and baked desserts in time for the Thanksgiving holiday plus an array of craft items for Christmas gifts.
The auxiliary earlier this year purchased equipment costing $12,500 for use in at least five departments of the hospital. The equipment included a base communication recording system for use by the base station in the emergency department; a device that holds infant movements to a minimum while undergoing X-ray examinations; a competency assessment computer software program to assist in performance evaluations of new nurses; a device used in the treatment of infants born with malfunctioning livers and a tracheotomy care simulator to help nurses become proficient for certain treatments of the throat.
