Fowler big money winner on final day of competition

BRAWLEY — The Cattle Call Rodeo wrapped up competition here Sunday with Santa Maria's Travis Fowler as the day's biggest money winner after winning the calf roping competition.

Fowler finished in 9.2 seconds earning himself $1,987. Taking second was Travis Hill of Lockhart, Texas (9.4), followed by Brent Lewis of Pinon N.M., finishing in 10.1.

In the bull riding event, Zack Brown of Yorba Linda and Cody Bequeath of Caldwell, Idaho, tied for first with score of 86, with each winning $1,663. Travis Kevie of Newcastle took third with a score of 83.

Barbara Bartos of Calgary, Alberta, Canada won the barrel race, finishing in 17.18 and winning $1,279. She was followed by Renee Gossett of Whitman, Ariz., (17.30) and Terri Kirkland of Billings, Mont., (17.52).

In the bareback competition Dustin Murray of Corrales, N.M., won with a score of 86 ($1,492) followed by J.C. Call of Howell, Utah and Rick Bradley of Brentwood, both with 83s.

Charles Soileau of Stephenville, Texas, was victorious in the saddle bronc event with a score of 84, earning him $1,800. Joe Willoughby of Tulare took second (81) followed by George Veater of Coarsegold with a 76.

In the team roping competition the duo of Jake Barnes of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Byron Wilderson of Sonoita, Ariz., took first, winning in 6 seconds ($2,873). Clay Tryan of Billings, Mont., and Caleb Twisselman of Santa Margarita took second in 6.2, followed by Wes Goodrich of Madera and Brent Lockett of Ivanhoe in 6.3.

Rounding out the day's competition was Trav Cadwell of Oakdale, who won the steer wrestling event in 4.3 seconds ($1,860), followed by Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos in 4.4 and Luke Lancaster of Coalinga in 4.5.
