Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Mary Helen Hitt, 78, of Brawley, who died Sunday in her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Brawley. The Rev. David Conrad will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Hitt was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Kirbyville, Texas. She came to the Imperial Valley with parents and attended Brawley Union High School during her sophomore and junior years.

She was president of Imperial Valley Arts Association from 1963 to 1964, taught art for 35 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brawley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace "Red" Hitt, in 1983; daughter Rosemarie Fischer in 1944; grandsons David Allyn Fischer in 1987 and Noel Richard Dowden; and step-son, Robert Dowden in 1968.

Survivors include her son, Jack Fischer of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Promesso of Escondido; daughter, Martha Kelshaw of Kingwood, Texas; son, Hank Fischer of Bexley, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Laurie Dowden and Daniel and Wendy Dowden, all of Brawley; stepdaughter, Peggy Dowden of Santa Cruz; stepdaughter and spouse, Kelly Sue and Rick Stewart of Shady Cove, Ore.; stepson, Bill Dowden of Yuma; sister and brother-in-law, Maurine and Floyd Curnett of Wichita, Kansas; 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 133 K St., Brawley, CA 92227.

CARLOS E. DOMINGUEZ

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Carlos E. Dominguez, 70, of Brawley, who died Monday in his home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Brawley. The Rev. Jorge Moreno will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Dominguez was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He moved to Mexicali from Hermosillo at age 16.

Mr. Dominguez married Trinidad Verdugo in Mexicali on May 6, 1949, and moved to the Imperial Valley in 1956. He worked as a truck driver for L.B. Carrillo for eight years and then started his own company, Dominguez Trucking, which he transferred to his sons in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his son Carlos Dominguez, in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Trinidad Dominguez of Brawley; daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Frank Aguilera of Brawley and Celia and Jorge Ramirez of Hollister; daughter, Josie Dominguez of Mexicali; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Olga Dominguez and Julio and Carmen Dominguez, all of Brawley; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MARY JUANITA LUKER

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Mary Juanita Luker, 73, of Holtville, who died Sunday in Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in First Assembly of God in Holtville. The Rev. Art Ziegler will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Luker was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Holtville and was raised and attended schools there.

She married Herbert D. Luker in Yuma on Jan. 9, 1948 and worked as a secretary of the nursing division at Imperial Valley College for 17 years.

She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God in Holtville.

Survivors include her son, Herbert Luker of Holtville; daughter, Elizabeth Lawson of Palm Desert; grandsons, John Lawson of Niland and Samuel Lawson of Corcoran; granddaughters, Bridgette Holder of Goodyear, Ariz., and Aaron Brown and JoEllen Green, both of Kingman, Ariz.; two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and numerous other relatives.

CARLOS G. HERNANDEZ

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Carlos G. Hernandez, 73, of El Centro, who died Tuesday in his home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Centro with the Rev. Jaime Escobedo officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mr. Hernandez was born on April 17, 1928, in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, and was raised there. He married Sara Arredondo in Mexicali on Sept. 20, 1958.

Mr. Hernandez lived in El Centro for 38 years and was a retired carpenter for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Hernandez of El Centro; sons, Mario and Abel Hernandez, both of El Centro, and Carlos A. Hernandez of Pennsylvania; daughters, Yadira H. Lopez of Holtville and Leticia and Patricia Hernandez, both of Imperial; and 11 grandchildren.

LOIS E. FLAMMANG

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Lois E. Flammang, 84, a longtime Brawley resident who died Monday in her home.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley. The Rev. Barry Vinyard of Imperial Valley Catholic Chaplaincy will officiate.
