BRAWLEY — Two Brawley residents thought by police to be gang-affiliated were injured in a drive-by shooting Monday night.

Brawley police Lt. John Myers said Alfredo Holguin, 18, Nicholas Rodriguez, 31, and Fabian Cardiel, 20, all of Brawley, were the victims of what investigators think was a gang-related drive-by shooting. Only two were reported injured.

The shooting happened about 8:44 p.m. Monday in the alley behind Brownie's Dinner in the 900 block of Main Street.

The three men were walking in the south alley when they were approached from behind by a vehicle. Someone from the vehicle started shooting, hitting two of the men.

Rodriguez was grazed on his left arm by a bullet while Holguin was shot twice in the abdominal area. Cardiel was not hit.

A spokesman at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley said the hospital could not release any information about the victims because of the nature of the incident.

Myers said the three men are not being cooperative with police.

Investigators aren't sure how many people were in the vehicle.

Myers said police found .25-caliber bullet casings in the area.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to call 344-2111.
