The Salvation Army will have its annual Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in its administration building, 375 N. 5th St. in El Centro.
Last year 1,500 meals were served, consisting of a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, coffee and/or iced tea. The same meal will be served this year, and pumpkin pie will be available for dessert.
This year, The Salvation Army is expecting the same number or more people, and as an addition there will be a jump tent for the children to enjoy, along with face-painting and a praise team from Los Angeles.
As in the past, this community effort is possible by donations received from businesses and individuals from Imperial Valley.
KXO AM 1230 and the Imperial Valley Press in conjunction with The Salvation Army will sponsor the event, which helps families in need in having a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
