Gota a turkey lying around? Call Salvation Army

November 21, 2001|By JENNIFER RALTON-SMITH, Staff Writer

If, after Thanksgiving, you find yourself with a spare, uncooked turkey in the freezer, it's still not too late to donate it to The Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army has a large walk-in freezer in its kitchen and turkeys donated after Thursday will be frozen until needed for Christmas meals.

If you don't manage to get through all those pumpkin pies this Thanksgiving, you can donate such items to The Salvation Army as well.

You might like to consider volunteering at the organization's center in El Centro.

Capt. Julio Vasquez, commanding officer of the Imperial County Salvation Army, said Tuesday that his organization is always in need of volunteers.
