power outages in

Calexico, Imperial

STAFF REPORT

Half-baked turkeys and soggy stuffing could have been on the menu for some Imperial and Calexico families Thursday after scattered power outages affected those cities.

Imperial Irrigation District spokeswoman Sue Giller said the northeast area of Imperial was without power for about one hour when strong winds damaged a circuit breaker around 12:30 p.m.

In Calexico, Giller said a vehicle ran into a power pole in the 1000 block of Fourth Street around 4 p.m., causing the pole to fall.

According to a Calexico Fire Department official, two other nearby poles fell as a result of the accident.

Power was quickly restored in that area after being rerouted, Giller said.
