‘Glitch' forces delay of ‘Bravo/Rodiles' hearing

CALEXICO — After everyone had been seated and the Pledge of Allegiance had been recited, City Attorney Michael Rood recommended postponing a City Council public hearing set for Tuesday night regarding the development projects of the F.S. Bravo partners and Dr. Horacio and Sandra Rodiles.

Rood said there was a "glitch" in the agenda posted at City Hall prior to the meeting.

The agenda posted did not specify what project would be considered at the public hearing; there was no mention of "Bravo/Rodiles" specifically.

After hearing from a representative of the Bravo/Rodiles landowners, the council decided to reschedule the hearing for next Tuesday.

During that meeting, the council will decide whether landowners near Cole Road and Highway 98 will be allowed to build an industrial park, RV park and houses on their land without doing a $200,000 environmental impact review.

Last month the council agreed to waive the requirement of a review despite the concerns of the city Planning Commission and planning director.

After the upcoming hearing, the council will decide to certify or reverse that decision.
