HEMET — The Brawley Union High School boys soccer team opened its season with a 2-1 win over Victor Valley at the Hemet tournament here Thursday.
Alfredo Campos got the Wildcats on the board with a penalty kick goal in the first half. Brawley led 1-0 at intermission, but Victor Valley battled back to tie the match at 1-1 in the second half. The Wildcats' Carlos Mejia scored late in the second half to give Brawley the win.
The Wildcats return to action in the tournament at 3 today against Hemet.
Southwest 0, Eastlake 0
LA MESA — The Southwest High School boys soccer team played Eastlake to a 0-0 tie in the Grossmont tournament here Thursday.
The Eagles' Ivan Ochoa was in goal for Southwest and got the shutout.
The Eagles next play in the tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday against Francis Parker.
