BRAWLEY — Police here arrested a man who led officers on a short high-speed chase through several city blocks Saturday.

Arrested was Brawley resident Rudy Raymond Ferrel, 28, who was booked into county jail on suspicion of fleeing police. He remained in custody this morning with his bail set at $15,000.

Brawley police Lt. Henry Graham said his department received a call that a man was failing to leave a location at 402 Eastern Ave.

Graham said when police arrived at the scene shortly after 11:40 a.m., a man took off in a vehicle, leading officers on a chase during which speeds reached about 65 mph.

The pursuit ended about 10 minutes later. Information on where the pursuit ended was unavailable.

While Graham did not have specific information, there were indications the pursuit may have ended with Ferrel's vehicle colliding with a fence.

Ferrel was taken into custody without further incident.

There was no information as to why Ferrel was fleeing police.
