Voice: Garcia should back up what he says about farmers

December 05, 2001

John Garcia, I hope you don't work in law enforcement. As much profiling as you do of other people, Imperial County couldn't afford the lawsuits you would cause.

The only contact I have with the government is not low-interest loans, crop subsidies and cheap labor. It's regulations, reporting, fees, taxes, and I would be severely fined for employing illegal aliens.

John Garcia, are you saying that minimum wage people working for "Wal-Mart, Jack-In-The-Box, Sears" and any other place, aren't entitled to the same benefits you claim farm workers receive?

I think you fall into your second group. And you, John Garcia do a lot of whining, complaining and fabricating facts.

John Garcia, if you don't want the Imperial Irrigation District to save $30 million per year, about $65 per month for every residential power user in Imperial County, then you can pay the $65 per month for a single mother working for minimum wage and needs the help.

John Garcia, I challenge you to quote one source to back up the offensive claims you made against farmers.
