CALEXICO — A 36-year-old man was arrested this morning for allegedly kidnapping his ex-wife at knifepoint.

Calexico police Sgt. German Duran said a woman came into the police station about 1 a.m. to report she had been kidnapped at knifepoint.

She told police her ex-husband, Arturo Jimenez of Calexico, confronted her as she was entering her home.

Duran said Jimenez reportedly pushed the woman into his car at knifepoint after a heated argument.

Duran said investigators are not sure when the kidnapping happened.

Duran alleged Jimenez took the victim to her home and threatened her. As soon as she could escape from her ex-husband, the woman drove to the police station to report the incident.

Police took Jimenez into custody without incident at his parents' house.

He was in the county jail this morning with his bail set at $100,000 for kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse and terrorist threats.

Duran said police will be filing a complaint against Jimenez with the District Attorney's Office.

Information on where the victim lives was unavailable.
