Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in Downtown Apostolic Church, 760 W. 6th St. in San Bernardino, for Kathryn Marie Burkett, 52, of Bombay Beach, who died of natural causes Tuesday in her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Downtown Apostolic Church. The Rev. Brian Clayborne will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.

Mrs. Burkett was born Feb. 17, 1949, in St. Louis and raised in Costa Mesa.

She married Dennis L. Burkett in Las Vegas on March 18, 1972. The Burketts made their home in Bloomington. She was a homemaker, raising their six children.

The Burketts moved to Bombay Beach in 1995. She was an active member of Downtown Apostolic Church, according to family.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis L. Burkett of Bombay Beach; daughters, Michelle Boso and Sandy Oesterblad, both of San Bernardino, and Karen Lozano of Norwalk; sons, Chuck and Rick Burkett, both of Salem, Ore., and Dennis Burkett of Bombay Beach; sister, Becky Harding of Salem, Ore.; brother, Bob Board of Washington; and 17 grandchildren.



Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in El Centro for Esmeralda Salazar-Valladares, 43, of Salinas, who died in a traffic accident Saturday in El Centro.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro. The Rev. Jaime Escobedo of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of El Centro will officiate.

Mrs. Valladares was born on March 28, 1958, in Mexico. She was raised in Mexico, lived in Salinas and worked for Rodriguez Co. in the Salinas and Yuma areas.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Gomez of Yuma; and sons, Juan Pablo and Jaime Gomez, both of Mexico.

Arrangements are under the direction of Frye Chapel & Mortuary in El Centro.


Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church in El Centro for Jane Starbuck Wheatley, 76, of El Centro, who died of Alzheimer's Nov. 22 in Valley Convalescent Hospital in El Centro. Pastor Jeff Hudelson will officiate.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

Mrs. Wheatley was born June 10, 1925, in Whittier. She married Winton W. Wheatley.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Teresa Wheatley of El Centro and Grant Wheatley and Susie Mautz of Penn Valley; grandchildren, Meagan, Nathaniel, Eric and Jason Wheatley, all of El Centro; daughter, Toni Renee Wheatley of El Centro; sisters, Thurza S. McClintock of Palo Alto and Martha S. Berg of Whittier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
