BRAWLEY — The Boys and Girls Club of Brawley and the city Parks and Recreation Department are looking to raise funds by raffling decorated Christmas trees Sunday.

"Don't buy a tree. Come and win one," said Brawley Parks and Recreation Director Karin Morgan.

Various clubs, organizations, business groups and individuals are decorating 15 trees with different themes.

All the trees will be raffled at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Boys and Girls Club of Brawley, 165 South Plaza.

"The goal is to bring the community together with a fun event like this and help raise money for the youth programs from both clubs," said Morgan.

Each tree to be raffled is 6 to 7 feet tall. They were purchased from a supplier in Alpine.

"I think they'll be some really beautiful trees with a lot of effort put into them," said Morgan.

Raffle tickets for each tree are $5. The trees will be on display from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Boys and Girls Club. Tickets will be available at the door.

Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Judy Chilcott said, "We have some beautiful renditions of themes from Christmas."

"We have a really eclectic group of people doing the decorating," she added.

"Even if you don't win, it will be a treat to look at the decorating talent in the Valley," said Chilcott.
