Boys hoops: Spartans drop game to Christian

SANTEE — The Central Union High School boys basketball team fell to Christian 89-51 in the Spartans' final game of the West Hills tournament here Friday.

Vincent McSee led the Spartans (0-4) with 11 points, while Angel Fernandez added 10.

"The tournament was a good experience," said Central coach Kevin McFadden. "We got to look at where we are compared to some very good teams. We need to continue to grow and compete. You can't knock the kids' effort. They played their hearts out."

The Spartans return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Yuma.

Indio 68, Brawley 58

INDIO — The Brawley Union High School boys basketball team lost to Indio 68-58 here Friday.

Miguel Melendrez led the Wildcats (2-1) with 14 points. Lafayette Lofton hit for 12 and Mark Rivera added 11 for Brawley.

The Wildcats return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford High in San Diego.


St. Margaret's 57, Imperial 52

Imperial 49, Army/Navy 18

LA JOLLA — The Imperial High School boys basketball team fell to St. Margaret's of San Juan Capistrano 57-52 and beat Army/Navy 49-18 in the La Jolla Country Day tournament here this weekend.

Matt Taylor led the Tigers with 16 points and four assists Friday against St. Margaret's. Ceasar Ramos had 13 for Imperial.

Danny Jones had 13 points and six rebounds in the win against Army/Navy on Saturday. David Diaz added 10 points

The Tigers (2-3) next play Thursday in the Cibola tournament in Yuma.
