Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in Struve and Laporte Chapel in Salinas for Manuel R. "Super" Urzua, 54, a former Brawley resident who died Dec. 1 after a brief illness in Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. Rosary was said at 7 p.m in St. Mary's of Nativity Catholic Church in Salinas.

A Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas.

Mr. Urzua was born March 18, 1947, in Brawley. He resided in Salinas for 33 years and worked in construction for Paul Beck Co.

Mr. Urzua attended St. Mary's of Nativity Catholic Church, was an avid 49er football fan, enjoyed music and concerts and was a founding member of the New Arrival car club.


Survivors include his parents, Manuel and Guadalupe Urzua of Salinas; grandmother, Ramona Arvallo of Los Angeles; daughter, Vanessa Urzua Swan of Salinas; son, Manuel Urzua Jr. of Salinas; brothers, Jesse, Ruben and Lupio, all of Salinas; sisters, Irene Solis, Aurora Guevara and Norma Urzua, all of Salinas; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Armenta and Terry Obad of Salinas; granddaughter, Xylah Swan of Salinas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Eloisa Vega Garcia, 70, of Calexico, who died Thursday in University of California San Diego Medical Center. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. The Rev. Barry Vinyard of Imperial Valley Catholic Chaplaincy will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mrs. Garcia was born Dec. 6, 1931 in Calexico and lived in the Imperial Valley her entire life.

She married Jess M. Garcia and was a project clerk at Jefferson Elementary School in Calexico for the past 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felipe Vega, and her sister Dolores Favela.

Survivors include her husband, Jess M. Garcia of Calexico; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Gloria Garcia of Heber; son, Ernest Garcia of Calexico; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Davin Brigham of El Centro; mother, Ursula Vega of Calexico; brothers, Leonard and Felipe Vega, both of Calexico, and Susano Vega of Murrieta; sisters, Lucy Garcia of Seeley and Josephine Alva of Rowland Heights; grandchildren, Melissa Gallegos, Gloria Alicia Garcia, Irsula L. Williams, Robert M. Jr. and Jess M. Garcia Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
