Thank You: Workforce Investment Board Brawley Beef kudos

December 13, 2001

On behalf of the Workforce Investment Board of Imperial County, we congratulate everyone involved in the recent hiring of 600 Valley residents to work for Brawley Beef. This was accomplished through a partnership between Brawley Beef, the Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program-Project Hope, the Imperial County One Stop Employment Services and the Imperial County Workforce Investment Board.

The mission of the WIB is "to cultivate a sustainable, prosperous community." The partnership that led to these jobs, that will help these employees become self-sufficient and that will improve the overall economic condition of the Valley is a major step toward that goal. Hopefully, this partnership will encourage other businesses, both potential and current, to utilize these available resources to ensure such success.

IVROP Project Hope provided 200 CalWORKs' clients ready for employment. Project Hope trained them, provided services for them and helped them prepare for these positions. Further, they assisted Brawley Beef in coordinating its immense hiring effort.

The One Stop Employment Services provided 500 potential employees for Brawley Beef. The OSESA screened them, coordinated their safety training and completed manufacturing enhancement area tax credit certification for all 700 potential applicants. The long-range value to Brawley Beef could reach over $2 million.

Congratulations to Brawley Beef for hiring these Valley residents. They created 600 jobs, which is a giant step toward the continued prosperity of the Imperial Valley.

Congratulations to the 600 Valley residents who were hired. On behalf of the Workforce Investment Board of Imperial County we both salute you and wish you continued employment success!

Congratulations to everyone involved in the process for a job well done!
