Voice: "Battle Scars"

December 17, 2001

Got this nightmare.

Gloom, deep and stark.

Torrential scare.

A tempest dark.

It's about the time,

in my late teens.

Served maritime,

a sailor, green.

My battlefield

The Pacific Sea.

Brave sailors, killed.

T'was my agony.

Kamikaze planes,

a deluge from hell,

struck like lashing rain.

Cast a woeful spell.

In my twilight years.

Often, in my mind,

battles reappear.

Battles, left behind.

Memories arise.

Memories, long past.

I hear hoarse cries

of shipmates, aghast.

The days come and go.

I pray to the Lord,

to let me let go.

To remove my discord.
