HOLTVILLE — An argument between two women at the Barbara Worth Golf Resort on Sunday turned more violent as one woman allegedly slashed the other with a broken bottle.

Injured was Lourdes Rosana Garcia, 26, of Holtville, who was treated at El Centro Regional Medical Center.

According to county Sheriff's Office Sgt. Manuel Garcia, one of Garcia's ears was nearly cut off by the slashing.

Arrested was Christy Marie Krohn, 27, of Bonita. She was booked into the county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and causing mayhem. She remained in jail this morning with her bail set at $35,000.

The slashing occurred about 1 a.m. inside the bar at the Barbara Worth.

According to Garcia, the women became involved in an argument, with one accusing the other or being disrespectful. Garcia said it wasn't clear who started the fight because both women are accusing the other of instigating the problem.

At one point the two women stepped into a bathroom, where they continued to argue.

They then went back to the bar, where Krohn allegedly picked up a beer bottle, smashed it and then slashed at Garcia's face.

Garcia was treated by others in the bar until medical personnel arrived. Krohn left the bar and went to a residence in Imperial, where she was later arrested by deputies.

Garcia said the case remains under investigation.
