December 18, 2001|By RUDY YNIGUEZ, Staff Writer

The El Centro City Council will hear a presentation about air pollution expected from an under-construction power plant in Mexicali.

The presentation will be made by county Air Pollution Control Officer Stephen Birdsall and will be about the 750 megawatt plant owned by Boston-based InterGen Aztec Energy.

No action is expected.

City councils throughout the Imperial Valley have been asked to support a lawsuit against InterGen because of the expected amount of air pollution from the plant.

The council meets in open session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1275 Main St.

In other business, the council will consider awarding $624,128.04 in vehicle purchases. The purchases would be from El Centro Motors and Del Norte Chevrolet.
