ECRMC hosting Christmas party and production for kids today

December 18, 2001

More than 400 children and grandchildren of employees of El Centro Regional Medical Center will be entertained today during a Christmas party, complete with Santa and gifts as well as a unique theatrical production.

Claudia Dubbe, purchasing manager for the hospital, said the party will be staged in two segments, at 2:30 and 4 p.m., "because of the large number of children who already have been signed up."

Children from birth to 12 years are eligible to attend.

A tent will be erected for the party on the parking lot of the adjacent Medical Plaza building.

A departure from past Christmas events for children of employees will be the presentation of a play, "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer," with a cast from the Southwest Academy of Visual and Performing Arts in Southwest High School. A portable stage has been loaned to the hospital by Imperial Valley College to mount the production.

Dubbe said each child attending will have his or her photo taken with Santa and will be presented with a Christmas stocking filled with treats and a stocking stuffers. After the party Santa is scheduled to visit the pediatrics department with gifts for the patients there.

Members of the hospital's employee activities committee also have formed a chorus to sing carols in the corridors of the hospital in the days just before Christmas, she said. The group is led by Peggy Przytula of the hospital admissions department and a music teacher at St. Mary's Catholic School in El Centro.
