Dan's Racquets plans grand opening Tuesday

Dan's Racquets will have a grand opening/ribbon cutting celebration 1 p.m. Tuesday at its store, 588 W. Main St. in El Centro.

Alford's employees

honored for good work

Alford Distributing recently honored those employees who exhibited excellent performance for in 2001.

Baldo Villafana was chosen general and administrative of the year, Rudy Huerta received the honor for the distribution department, Alex Galvan for sales service department, Brandon Adams for merchandiser, and Manuel Quintero for pre-salesperson of the year.

Manuel Quintero also was chosen as "employee of the year" based on a vote by

his fellow workers. Each employee had the opportunity to vote on employee of the year based on the following criteria; personifies the Alford Distributing Co. mission statement, demonstrates product and company loyalty, displays friendly and positive attitude toward fellow employees and


customers, takes initiative and is self-motivated, displays professionalism, maintains a sense of integrity for their work, job performance, enthusiasm, excellent customer relations, concerned for safety, maintains grooming, productivity, personal commitment, time-management skills and is "community-oriented".

Quintero received a gift certificate for $200 for the Bahia Hotel and Resort in San Diego.

Fred Fankhauser, distribution department manager, said Quintero always presents himself as professional and is always determined to give his best effort toward the job.

Alford also honored employees with service awards to several longtime employees. Those honored were: Bobby Corrion, five years; Mike Carson, 10 years; Charlie Alford, 15 years; Rudy Huerta, 20 years; Mitch Barnes, 20 years; T.J. Escalera, 23 years; and Mike Fisher, 26 years.

Carson received an Italian

oxylite eagle sculpture for 10 years of service, and for 15 years Alford was presented with a customized Alford gold ring. Other recipients received an additional diamond added to their "Eagle" ring, for 20 and 25

years of service.

Alford Distributing is the local distributor of Anheuser-Busch products for the Imperial Valley and parts of San Diego mountain areas. Alford, a family business, has been in operation for more than 51 years in the Imperial Valley.
